NOT BEING PERFECT IS THE PATH TO BE BETTER

Many times while teaching newer people lifting techniques, I hear this phrase… “But I’m not doing it right”. The conversation usually goes like this…

Me – …well, of course you’re not.

You – But you make it look so easy.

Me – I should, I’m the coach (a.k.a. subject matter expert).

At this point, I expect a frustrating sigh or to hear you say something to the effect that you will never be able to do this.

Let’s ROLL PLAY!

YOU are the subject matter expert at your job. You get up every morning, go to work and do your thing… whatever it is, and you do it well. YOU SHOULD, you’ve been doing it for YEARS.

Now, imagine ME (your coach) walking into your work one morning and doing your job. Could I do it? Could I do as well as you?

Do you REALLY expect me… to do your job as well as you… having NEVER done it before?

No?

Well, I don’t expect YOU to do my job as well as I do either.

Give it time, be patient, trust the process and listen to the coach.

YOU WILL GET THERE!
